"Round & Round"
This segmented piece is made from Teak there are 96 circles and 224 pieces all together. It was glued up and turned in sections all turned using carbide cutters without a steady rest, the finished size is 7 1/2" x 9" tall and finished with satin lacquer.

Okay, based on your numbers, each level of the glue-up is 16 pieces (either straight strips or circles); 6 rows of circles ='s 96 circles, and 8 rows of strips ='s 128 more pieces, 224 altogether.

Question: how were the circles made? My guess would be dowels of varyings sizes, sliced into 'cookies,' then drilled to hollow-out the cookies.

Next question: how was the assembly done? With a conventional solid ring glue-up, it's easy to hold it all together with a strap clamp or a metal hose clamp. Can't figure this one out!

Anyway, nicely done. I enjoy puzzles.

R.Thank you Robert, It's not made from Dowels / you would then be seeing end grain: to make it a bit easier to turn all the grain runs horizontal. The circles were made on a drill press with hole saws without the pilot bit, then a jig was made for each size and the center was drilled out half way, so while turning the inside at first they were solid. The glue up for the standard ring was normal but then cut in half on the table saw, the circles were then flattened a bit by sanding top & bottom. After that they (circles) were glued over the seems with CA Glue and a stick keeping each parallel to the opposite side Circle. And the glue up was the easy part.
