Trying to match ash flooring, newel posts, and handrails to existing white oak floors. Four samples of Rubio were tested with poor results, including a tint suggested by someone at Rubio. The colors are way off and the Rubio tints more like a pigment stain than dye, e.g., significantly darkening grain and pores. I read a post that Osmo Polx causes aniline dye to smear but that did not happen in my two test samples (the board on the right-hand side below), which seem to be the best so far. Does anyone have a good technique for matching ash to white oak? Has anyone tried tinting Osmo with liquid Transtint dye?
