My plan is to remove an old 4 foot pasture fence and replace it with something tall enough to keep deer out, probably ~8 feet tall.
On the fences to be removed is a few hundred feet of clean un-rusted barbed wire to be salvaged for future use.
It seemed a good spool to hold it would be nice.
So, a few half laps and eight dados and viola!

With a pipe clamp it will be easy to clamp this to a post or saw bench and make winding up the wire fairly easy.
