Was a good day. Ended up picking up our new Frontier OS-23 portable sawmill from UPS Freight.

But also ended up picking up a nice looking 8” Jet Jointer today. It’s a straight blade model JJ-8CS. Has a sticker on it showing 12/30/2020, but can’t say if that’s a build date or something else. My guess is that its older based on the style and look. If everything checks out okay, I’ll probably put a Shelix head in it too. Anyway, it is missing the plastic dust chute and I’m wondering if anyone knows if a generic one fits or if I need to source the actual Jet part. A 5” port would be awesome but the factory one was probably 4”. Thank you.

Would a piece of plywood with a hole cut into it and a magport 5” flange attached be effective in place of the plastic dust chute that should have been there?

There's a job for a 3D printer.

Hah! 'Knew you couldn't stay away from the woodworking bug for a long period of time... :) :D

I have the same jointer bought in Spring 2020; it looks identical (except the date sticker). I haven't felt the need to upgrade the cutter, and probably won't. It did come with a 4" port, although a 5" would be nice:)

Ha. Well, I was planning to try one of the bench top 8” jointers since I’m working with limited space and mobile tools. But I found this one with the mobile base for around 35 to 40 percent of what a new one costs and it appears to be in great shape.

however, how could I not get back in given the prospect of a new sawmill. LOL. We are assembling it today.
