Russian olive with numerous small surface burls - 12” x 6”. I really like the Jamieson system - I used the laser, which was fine but have the stuff to do video which will be better I think (just need to get it out of storage and mount it).

The wood was given to me by a neighbor in IL in 2020 and has numerous small burls and bark inclusions all over it. A 5” chunk came off the top while turning to round making it a lot smaller than I planned - it didn’t break off, it looked like a separate growth that just fell off as I took the outer layers down. Finished with Watco Danish oil (I may spray some satin lacquer on it once fully cured). Comments/critiques welcome.

Very nice, I especially like the small inclusions etc.

The grain patterns are so unique that it makes me want to pick it up and marvel at their beauty. Nice job of exposing them for all to enjoy b

Thanks. The wood is amazing but I’m sure it will darken. I need to get better at having a smoother inside but I enjoyed trying this hollower and am excited to keep learning.
