I am wanting to make one of those sanding boxes that you put under the wood that has a port for your dust collector to suck the dust down. I was just going to make it with scrap wood and some perforated piece in the top. My orbital sander has a bag on it, but it doesn't nearly catch everything and I think this would help control a lot of that dust that gets on my table when sanding.

My question: Is there any considertation I should take into account when deciding the depth of the box? If I don't make it real deep I can just buy and 4" adapter to fit in a smaller hole for the dust collection.

Thanks

You are going to want to take advantage of all of the SCM that your dust collector has. If you run 6" pipe, you need to make a 6" opening for the dust collector. These things really need everything your dust collector has to work really well.
