I’ve had these screws for a while and they’re my favorites. #2 square head, self tapping, cutters on the head, black (the ones in the pic are 2 1/4 but I’d get various). Shopping online for screws is such a pain with all the choices I was hoping someone could help me out. I think I got these from woodcraft or McFeeley’s but can’t find them again.

My go-to for square drive is McFeeley's.

I've switched to Spax screws. They are readily available locally at both color BORGS and some hardware stores. They come in a variety of head and drive styles.

I think they call those "nibs" under the head. use that term in your search string.

Maybe these?

Thank you all for the options.

McFeely’s doesn’t seem to carry what I’m looking for - The only thing that meets the filter are some cement board screws.

Bill, those are pretty darn close and would work.

I will look into quick screw and bolt depot. Rockler might be the ticket too.

Do you have to get them at McFeely’s ?
Do they have to be black ?
Do they have to be sq. drive only ?

Tony’s link appears to be a match.

These should be close enough :

and these seemingly check your boxes too :

I have very similar screws from Woodcraft that are Highpoint brand.

I missed the cutters on the head, Matt. I use GRK for that kind of thing. Not square drive...torx...but darn nice screws!

I ended up going with QuickScrews. Their cost / 100 was about half that of Rockler and cheaper than the others and I got exactly what I needed. Only bad thing is the shipping cost is $20 unless you spend $100, so I spent more than planned but filled in some holes in my screw inventory.

Chuckling. Never thought I would see the day when I dropped $100+ on misc screws. But have...

Yea, I've "stocked up" many times to minimize shipping/handling charges. For the sizes I use frequently, I don't bother with the small boxes, either...of course, that may mean my beneficiaries may be very flush with screws someday. :) :D

Gives new meaning to screwing your beneficiaries.

I stumbled across an on-line hardware store called Jake Sales, that is located in Montana a couple years ago. They have a pretty good selection of screws and other fasteners. Intuitive web site, and reasonable pricing and shipping fees. https://www.jakesales.com/construction-screws-s/1630.htm
