Micro-Adjust Upgrade for Multi-Router

Woodpeckers recently acquired the rights to the JDS Multi-Router. Mine is an older model and I bought the micro-adjust upgrade kit from Woodpeckers, which is supposed to fit the JDS machine....but it requires removing the steel vertical shaft to install it...and mine won't move! (all set screws and other impediments removed). Has anyone done this upgrade? Thanks!

My guess would be that the set screws deformed the rod when they were tightened. It's going to need some help from a press or hammer and drift pin. I never took the rods out of mine, but just sharing a thought.

Got it done....for anyone who may be doing this in the future; the steel shaft on the older JDS Multi-Routers does NOT slip out, as the instructions suggest. You will likely need to remove the 4 bolts that hold the horizontal and vertical parts of the machine frame together, so you can gently tap the shaft down from above. Unfortunately the horizontal frame must be slid out of the way to do this.
