A real diamond in the rough, especially for $200. I wish I knew exactly how long it’s been since it was produced. One thing is for sure, the owner took great care of it!

7 or 8 of the bits are still in the yellow shrink wrap. The opened ones are still fresh. Very fortunate to have come across this.

I think the original issue of these was done many years ago before Stanley acquired the Russell Jennings brand. I see one of the old ones on eBay for around $325.

Special Analysis Steel! Very very nice! Congratulations! The label looks like the Stanley labels on things my dad has that would have been acquired the 1960's

Good find. Do you intend them for use or as shelf riders? Either way is good.

I’ll be using them, just doing my best to keep em nice. I think I’ll use my other set more often though so this one doesn’t wear down much. I’ve got another really nice set (different brand) that I love.

Nice sets of augers Matthew. Over time you will discover some work is better done with the Irwin (Bluwin) bits and some is better suited for the Russell Jennings bits.

My sets consist of; one Russell Jennings set in box, an Irwin set in box, a Craftsman set of 9 or 10 bits in metal box and a bunch of random spares.

One set of no name bits was sent to my grandson recently.

If they are at a "can't go home without it" price odd bits are often purchased to have around for drilling in wood that may have nails or other debris to save my good bits for the shop work.

I have that same set that I bought new in the 1970's. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I remember the price being $115. There was no shrink wrap on the bits. You could buy a new car then for less than $4000. A new Delta 8" jointer was $995.
