First was a test drive,,,to see how "bad" it really was..opened it up...

Face still had the mill marks. Frog adjust bolt has a bit of "patina"..

Cleaning brush to start things up..

Plane is a Millers Falls No. 8, type 2...about a #3 sized smoother..

Nice reflection...Brass all shined up, frog installed....worked on the chipbreaker and the iron....iron did have a couple knicks..got rid of those..

Nice going Steven. A lot of those older planes made by reputable makers can be made to work well. The ones that are severely rusted or worse yet re-done can not be saved. A little clean up and normal maintenance does wonders. When the grinders and sand paper come out in the wrong hands the end is near.
