Well here is bowl #2 tonight. It is black locust. I cut the sides down to about a 1/2" this time per some advice. This one took me about 15 minutes or so less time than the first one. I will soak it tonight and wrap it up in the morning.

Lookin' good, Bernie. Not too long ago I started roughing my bowls out much thinner (after some advice from some folks here). I unwrapped several various sizes and woods last night and I think I'm now getting much less movement out of the wood as it dries. I also think it dries much better - and faster. AND... a lot less wood to cut away when finish turning...:D

Bernie it looks good. I see you are avoding the mistake that happen to a lot of first time bowl makers, and that is the one where they make the inside sides of the bowl and the bottom of the bowl meet at to sharp of an angle. I like the way you have a gentle curve at the bottom. This is not matches the outside curve, it is functional, and a pleasing design. You will find this gentle curve a real assed to you when you start the final phase of finishing and sanding, but you probably new this already. I am looking forward to the finished bowl.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I have one more of these black locust blanks to turn. From the looks of them I hope they finish as nice as I think they will.
