It's actually usable at this point but I have a lot more to do. I'm going to use a 1/2" carriage bolt and a wooden handle to tighten it. The design isn't completely thought out yet but should be easy. I'm thinking of a propeller looking thing with a nut imbedded in it.

I found my back saws don't fit in it so I need to cut some internal dados to make room for them.

After that, just some shaping and evening up some of these cuts, bevel the edges and put some BLO on it and call it done.

Very nice Richard! My shop made vice isn’t nearly as substantial as yours. I use C clamps on the ends of vice to get tight hold on saw plate. Don’t be afraid to add if needed- tight hold makes filing much easier.

I was thinking the same thing. Only takes a few seconds to add clamps if needed.
