And here's the bigger brother. I used the same finishing process as on its Little Brother (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?p=281073#post281073). This one measures about 13" wide x 5½" tall and about 5/16" thick.

This one was harder to turn due to the looseness of the NE. Thanks to Glen Hodges for clueing me in about using CA glue to stiffen things up.

So --- Which one do I give to my mother?

Magnificent work Andy. Those are very special pieces. If this don't get Ken's attention.... nothing will :D

Like I said in the other thread...both are just beautiful. As far as who gets what? I guess that all depends on what you're gonna do with the other one. If you're going to sell one...then give Mom the nicest one. If you're going to keep one, then maybe you can alternate from month to month!:D

Andy... Sweet! Don't tell MY mother but if I could do this...I'd be keeping both.

Andy that is simply as great as the little brother. You are among the many that have motivated me to keep trying.

Andy, both those bowls are magnificent. :D

As I am not a spinner, from my humble and inexperienced view, both those pieces exhibit some serious "pucker factor" to me. :o ;)

This one is really great Andy. You did justice to both of the brothers.

This is your mother you are talking about Andy, give her both.:D

Andy, there is nothing wrong with either of those two NE's. Both are wonderful. I am sure your mother will accept either with much appreciation from her son. I don't think you can go wrong with that kind of beautiful work.

Thanks!

Hey Dick Parr - Great minds do think alike, as my daughter has convinced me to get both of them over to my mother in New Hampshire at the end of the month. Just in time for her birthday.

Really want to do some more of these some day. so it's time to go burl hunting.

Both of 'em are excellent, Andy. Very nice work. Amazing something so good looking can come out of such an ugly hunk of bark, eh?
