Back when I was in the US Army "Leg" Infantry...the Company Supply Room had a chest. Yep, made of plywood. Inside was all sorts of hand tools...with a label on the underside of the lid, no less. Label had a listing of all the tools that were to be IN that chest....we even had to bring it out, to repair the chests the 81mm Mortars were stored in, over in the Arms Room. Supply Sargent kept the key to what we called the Pioneer Tool Chest....and..we had to sign for it.....Seemed like every Infantry Company was supposed to have such a chest issued to them. About the same size as a foot locker?
Been trying to find out what all they had in those chests...like maybe an old label? Google-fu doesn't seem to know much about it....
