Being from NW Pennsylvania, we're used to getting snow and most people can get around without much drama. The storm crossing the US right now resulted in us receiving 12" overnight.
It is still snowing and they've extended the warning until 1 AM Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what the totals are.

Yep - according to the weather we got 9" of snow here in NE Ohio.

Our three big giant coon hound/Great Pyrenees mix dogs were out in the back yard "submarining" (the snow is up to their backs) around the yard.
They hate it. I hate it. I want warm weather.

Twelve inches of snow and still coming down...I hope you don't lose power.

Here in the Great White North, so far it's at about 15" and forecast to be about 20 when all is said and done. Winds are upwards of 40 miles per hour, so visibility is a big problem.

It's just winter.

Just west of Lisa we have 16" on the ground and it is still falling.

Got about 6" before it turned to rain. We had heavy rain for most of the morning and still have winds 30-40 mph.

We got only a dusting of about 9 inches where's the real snow.

Come on northeast from Medina if your looking for snow. It is still snowing and we've almost doubled since this morning. Best guess is we're around 20" now and the wind has picked up so starting to drift.

Blue sky and sunshine here.

We got snow a couple weeks ago. Glad it is gone.

We had over 16". The last 4-5 days, most of it's melted off with temps during the days up to 40ºF. With the low arc of the sun this time of year, the north side of the house and the arborvitae in the backyard keeps the suns rays from melting it. It's warmed up enough, it's safe to use the outside domestic water faucet and hose so now I can continue tiling the shower.

30-45mph winds, plus a tornado about 5 miles North of us. Was really howling outside.

Snow .... Nope, don't see any. At least not in the last 30 years.

We only got about 8" in NY capital region. But I got to XC ski on the trails I have been working on the past few weeks. I have to say I do nice work.:D;)

It was 8ºF when we woke up yesterday morning. In the evening, we got 2.5" of snow. By 3 am, it was up to about 50ºF and raining heavily. No snow when we woke up this morning. :)

Malcolm, some places here in Richmond got close to 2 inches.

Here in central NC, first we had snow, then sleet, followed by freezing rain, and then rain. Two counties over to the south west, they had a MAJOR freezing rain event. Thousands still without power tonight. I-95 was closed near SC border due to sagging power lines for several hours yesterday. You may have seen on national news semi truck dangling from bridge in Durham (25 miles away.)

60 degrees and extended dry/drought out here in Western South Dakota. As a skier, I'm envious of you all - stuck with manmade snow and still only 30% of runs open. We're aching for a storm measured in feet.

Starting to drift? Must be hilly and wooded there. We ended up with about 6" and if it hadn't been such a wet snow would have probably had 3 foot drifts. Here on the prairie with that kind of total you mentioned it would be drifts several feet high and plows would likely wait until the snow ended to make a real effort to open things up. That's when V plows rule.

Believe it or not I worked nights making the white stuff 50 years ago for a relatively small ski park in central mitchigan.
...Here in N.E Georgia we lost power, had 52 mile an hour wind and 2-3" inches.... went to walmart supercenter for a few groceries today and id say the shelves were at 70%...no eggs?

Glad the Jetstream is pushing east again this winter

The foot of snow we had a week and a-half ago turned to ice and then rain, and now is gone. I can see my grass again.

Don't envy you folks in the east.

I don't envy the folks back east either. If I had their normal summer weather in my forecast I would lose my mind.

I remember flying into Seattle one Christmas, back before 2010, maybe 08 or 09. Total zoo, they had four inches of snow on the ground with 2 more inches coming down. All the flights were cancelled. The rental car counters all had "no cars available" signs on the counters out where they could be seen, but they all had people sitting there at the cash registers. I needed to get to Sacramento, so I asked. The gal at the counter asked to see my DL and said "What month does this weather remind you of?" and I said "September" and she said "We are only renting cars to Alaskans tonight."

I did make it to Sacramento on time, but I will probably die if we have +95 dF and 90% humidity in the forecast next summer. The most important thing is to stay home and eat whatever is in your freezer while you are waiting on the snowplows. About 1/3 of the staff at our local Army and Air Force bases turns over every year and we can spot those folks from half a mile away when the first snowflake hits the ground. Whether or not you are one of those folks, you don't want to be on the roads with them. Stay home. Burn charcoal (outdoors) to cook whatever you find in the freezer. I grill outdoors down to -20dF and none of you are anywhere near that. The main thing is if you feel cold, you are fine. When you are out in it and stop feeling cold, that is when frostbite is imminent and you need to get warmed up right away.

If you need grilling recipes that work good down to -20 just ask, I have a slew of them. Tell me what you got, leg of lamb, a whole turkey, no problem, we got this. Just don't get out on the roads with the yahoos.

This storm just totally went around Indiana. We got about 1/2” early Saturday morning, which hung around long enough to prevent me from riding my Chieftain to the Indian Motorcycle Riders Group meeting at 11 AM. But I may ride to work this morning, depending on what the high is this afternoon. I haven’t checked yet. If it’s above freezing this afternoon, I will ride to work even if it’s as low as about 20°F.

Finally stopped falling last night, but the 50-60 mph gusts kept at it. We have ~14” here and much deeper drifts in places. No one on my street has attempted to drive anywhere for the last 2 and a half days, which is rare.

37 degrees here in Eastern Virginia this morning with a bright sunny blue sky. The big storm went around us as it came up the coast. We had a little rain and about 25 mph wind but nothing to write home about here. It's 70 degrees F in my shop this morning and I am about to go downstairs and go to work.

First "real" snow here in VT - 10" of powder here in the valley, 18" reported at Mad River Glen. Headed back down below zero tonight. I feel bad for folks in the south who aren't set up for snow and ice, here it's how it's supposed to be.

Feel free to send some of that snow our way. We only have about six inches on the ground here, not enough. Snow insulates the ground, and if we don't have enough the frost goes too deep and starts causing havoc, like freezing septic systems and waterlines. The snow also is important for perennials to survive the winter.

38F for a high today, -4 for a low tonight; 40+ temp swing in 12 hours, yuck.

Well, it stopped snowing last evening and we had about 22" on the ground. It started again around 10 this morning, and we've added 2 more inches. Just what it does in our neck of the woods.

We ended up with close to 18" & 24+" drifts.

I bought an AWD vehicle so I could get by without having to shovel, but, this is beyond what my little AWD Kona can get through. My wife also has an AWD Sportage, but, it can't handle this much snow either.

My wife and the neighbor across the street are out shoveling. I tired to but - I didn't last more than 3 minutes in the cold dry air.

Did I mention about how I hate deep snow like this? Well, I do. I hate the snow, I hate the cold. I hate that it gets dark early. I wish I really was a grumpy old bear- instead of acting like one - so I could hibernate and sleep through this...

I don't mind these winter events. I bundle up and go around and play good Samaritan and clean peoples drive ways for them. Feels good to help. Of course I'm using my tractor and loader and box blade but still. Shop is cozy as well so I go spend time there as well doing projects. Retirement is good. Wife wants to go south for a couple weeks and take a break. Maybe in February.

eats up more time, snowblowing and shoveling fine and for neighbours as well fine. Two portable sheds 12 x 20 snow weight on them was brutal, poles bending under the weight cover stretched like crazy. I think the sun on the snow made it compact and harden up on the top of the snow likely three inches down. So inside with a broom pushing up and breaking it up and slowly off outside edges in to the peak each side. Invented a new exercise.

Just as day follows night....

Big snow fall - - a few days of sunshine to melt some of the snow and make it compact - - and now it's 4 degrees below zero - cold enough to make that compacted snow solid ice.

:(

Looks like I'll need a Bobcat to clear the end of the driveway.

After about 36" of snow within 48 hours, it has started to rain. Wonderful layer of water over ice covered roads in town. I'm soooooo over this crap, living in a town called "one of the snowiest towns in the America" with an average of 325" per year.

We got a couple inches here in central NC on Friday. Temps were in lower twenties, which means this isn't our typical snow. Most of the time when it snows here it's right at freezing, producing a heavy wet snow. This snow was a powder. So much so, that I used leaf blower (electric) to clear both porch, steps and van.

I picked up a Makita cordless leaf blower last fall, mostly for the four 5AH batteries. I have more hours on it blowing snow from my sidewalks and cars than blowing leaves. It is great for cleaning out the filters on my cyclone and shop vacs also.
