An unusual looking end grain on a piece of wood from a pallet. The piece in the picture is about 2 1/2" X 3 1/4". This piece of wood was about 6' long when I picked it up on a construction site many years ago. It never cracked or moved as it dried over the years. I have used it for a bunch of different projects and am down to the last 10" of it. Sad to see it go. I cut a piece off today to make a sleeve for the tenon on a turned lidded box. On another forum Leo Van Der Loo commented in a thread that he used the sleeve method to lessen the grain mismatch when parting the lid from the base. Thought I would try his suggestion with the pictured wood for the sleeve.
