Is there a standard type of scaffolding or platform for working on a ceiling that is over a bathtub?

In the case at hand, two edges of the large jacuzzi type tub are set a good way into walls, so bracing a board across the tub isn't convenient. Due to the sloping nature of the tub, a step ladder standing in the tub leaves the part of the ceiling near the ends of the tub out of reach.

In general, I'm curious about whether contractors who remodel bathrooms have a tried and true method of handling such situations.

How extensive is the bathroom remodel? Could you screw a 2x4 along the wall above the tub and build your own platform out of lumber? Chances are there is tile above the tub which would make this not very practical???

In general, I'm curious about whether contractors who remodel bathrooms have a tried and true method of handling such situations. They do: there's always a line item on the bid that says "New tub (installed)".

Happy to help. :)

More seriously, this is probably the right answer. With some planning (and adding grab rails to the "gotta have" list), you can make a feature out of a bug.

This one only involves drywall repairs to the ceiling.
