Well, where do I begin? I am about 3/4 through my latest project (a Curly Cherry Lowboy), and the person that was supposed to get it as a present, died. I really am not sure what to do. On the one hand, I could just finish it and end up selling it to someone else or I could give it to the family. The thing is, I really don't know if giving it to the family would be the right thing to do. My concern is that it would be a reminder of the person that they lost.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks,

Bob.
I think that I would just call and ask the family when you felt that the time was right.
I know that morally you feel an obligation to finish. I'm not sure that you would be "legally" obligated. Very touchy area you have found yourself in.
Good luck. Let your principles and morals guide you.

Making the assumption this is a commissioned work, I would, at an appropriate time, offer the completed piece to the family per the original deal. If they decline, you have a spec piece to market. Same goes if it was a gift from you...make the offer.
