That is just great Ernie---you just got to love the grain. I am getting to the point that I really like working with walnut. I have not made any big HF 's yet but looking at yours I may have to.

Really, really nice. Someday, if I live long enough, I might be able to make one about a third as good.

Ernie, you are right these are bad pictures of stunning work, but who cares at least we get an idea of what you have created. I wish we could see the wood a little better it looks outstanding also. I really like the way the shoulders are placed, the lines look perfect, and the size of the foot makes this one look so elegant. Thanks for letting us look at it.

Hey Chris, I think they are ignoring us, maybe we don't know the double secret handshake or something.....;):D

Come on guys, spill the beans, HF...?

Hollow Form???

Holy Fruck...?

Help Fred..??

Healthy Free..?

Holy Fat..?

Honking Fantastic..?

Helical Fraction..?

Hard to Fathom..?

....or is this the kind of thing where one guy, who knows what he is doing says..

"Nice HF"

..and everyone else say..

.."oh yeah really nice HF"

..but in reality, no one knows what the heck "HF" means, but they don't want to look stoopid in front of the group and say..

"yeah guys, what does HF mean...?" :D

Geez, the flatsiders were not joking when they said things get kind a "Spinny" down this a way.... :D

So all know what we're talking about. First you squeeze you left hand between your right BIG TOE and the next toe, then you chuckle three times and HF suddenly becomes a Hollow Form! BTW this is a VERY godd example of one!

When you get your lathe, maybe you can get KC to tell us what a "bl/br BEB" is! :D

Your piece is beautiful. I love the finish, it's got that deep glassy effect like looking thru still water to the bottom of a water pool in the mountains. I love that! You know, all of you should get commission from the tool and lathe companies. You all keep posting work like this and the rest of us are forced to buy more tools, more videos, more books, take more classes... because the rest of us want to do that with wood too!!!

I sanded to 600. Then I dipped the 600 in Watco and while turning real slow, created a slurry and kept that up for about 5 min. Wiped it off and let it dry for a week. Three coats of simi gloss Deft lacquer, then buffed with tripoli and carnauba wax.

It's 6" X 6.5".
