I came across this video of David Marks applying bookmatched shopsawn veneer to a dome shape. Since the veneer has to warp to fit the dome the center joint is curved. He uses a spiling technique I have read of in descriptions of cold molded boat construction where adjacent strips are held to the form while a router is run through the joint.
