Aside from being an absolute beast of a guitar player and showman, Tommy is one of the kindest and most encouraging “rockstars” there is. I’ve met him a handful of times after his shows.

After the first show of his I went to - probably early 2000s when I’d been playing the guitar for just a few years, I brought my copy of one of his instructional guitar technique books that I was learning from with me and he signed it after the show and talked with me for about 10 minutes about some of the details about learning the fingerpicking style. The next show, which was a few years later, I met him again after the show and the first thing he said to me when I walked up was “how’s the fingerpicking coming along?”

At the time he was on the road most all the time and playing all over the world. Can’t imagine how many other fans he remembers meeting, inspiring, and encouraging.
