Greetings,
It's been a really hard time over the past 2 weeks. My 31 year old son passed away and we laid him to rest last Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving). Today, I have to go to the funeral home and find out what all the expenses are and how much they are. For those of you who sent supporting thoughts, prayers, emails, and texts? Thank You! That means so much to me and my family.
I am trying to finish up a couple of cutting boards for son #2 to take with him on his trip to see his girlfriend. I should have those done today. Honestly, that's all I've had desire or energy to do over the past week. The LOML goes back to college classes today and I go back to work tomorrow.

Dennis, I really feel for you and wish you peace going forward. It will not be easy, but look into the light, not the darkness.

No woodworking or shop activity in the past week, but I have some projects I'm planning. The continued lack of a sale for our old property is not helping with motivation. We did celebrate Thanksgiving twice; once on the day with close friend and their kids and grandkids (they are all like family to us) and again yesterday where it was a combined Thanksgiving/Family Day with both of our girls and the younger's SO...celebrating 16 years since we adopted the little princesses from Russia at ages 6 and 10. It was also a day to toast our younger daughter who finally scored a full time position in her chosen career path...sustainable fashion. She could have had "a job" quickly after she graduated from Penn State this past spring, but was focused on getting a full time position in something she has some passion for. So next week she starts that new journey with a decent starting salary and benefits with more of both to come in a few months.

This week's activities include trying to lose a few "holiday pounds" and some other things. I suspect that the apple pie and ice cream breakfast this morning wasn't a good start on that, however. :D

Again, my prayers are with you and your family. I know all to well that the death and funeral are only the beginning of a journey that never ends. As time passes, you find comfort and peace. Have patience with yourself and those around you. The journey is difficult and different for everyone.

Minimal shop time. Just dis-assembled the old dust collector (and sold it) and worked toward installing the new system.

Dennis, again, condolences to you and your family. I hope you find solace in your woodworking and the support of family and friends.

All kitchen, all the time for me. All the cabinets are installed except the one over the fridge and the two fridge panels. All the shelves and drawers have shelf liner and we officially dismantled the temp kitchen in the laundry and moved into the new one, and just in time to make a real thanksgiving dinner. Of course I still have to do the crown, light rail, and under cab lighting; no rush on that. I'm waiting to hear when the countertop fabricator will come to measure and template; of course this is their busy time. But the temp countertop will do for now. I also have to install the range hood, and we haven't even ordered knobs and pulls. I think I will install the flooring in the kitchen even though I haven't even removed the old flooring in the hallways leading to the kitchen (which also get the new flooring).

Dennis, my thoughts and prayers to you and your family in these tough times.

I'm prepping to build a display shelf for our living room. I bought a sheet of maple plywood (2 good sides, plain sawn) and two 4/4 x 5" x 10' boards. Shelf will be approximately 6' long and 12" wide. There will be a piece roughly 4" tall underneath the shelf at the wall and three brackets approximately 3" x 11" to support the shelf. This is just for display of lightweight objects. I'm keeping it low profile because of height restrictions in its mounting location. There will also be 4 hooks for hanging Christmas stockings from. My wife wants it done this weekend, but we will see how it goes.
