I'm finally building my last workbench and have a question.

I plan to use a Record quick release vise and a Veritas twin screw end vise.

How much clearance do I need from the back end to the legs for the Veritas twin screws?

Thanking all in advance

Eric

What’s the style of bench? Because with say, a Roubo, it’s irrelevant as the screws pass just to the inside of the legs. I have a split-top and my non-veritas twin screw does that (same as all other Roubo's with twin screws I've seen) – I only needed to cut two notches out of my top stretcher to allow the very long screws to pass through.

I'm not where I can get to mine to give you an in use measurement. However, if you look up the item on the Lee Valley website, and click "care and use", you can download a PDF of the owners guide which should tell you what you need to know.

I highly recommend that you obtain the hardware before you design the bench.

Also spend the $6 (or more if you are feeling generous) to become a contributor so we can share pictures.

Congratulations on starting a bench project.

14” leaves me about 1” 1/8 to spare. This is the 16” on center twin screw
