Since I have been doing mostly hollow forms lately, I decided to go back to the basics today and make myself a popcorn bowl out of the Sycamore that Sparky sent me. I have never turned Sycamore before. I like it. It sure has a strange grain. The only finish is a little Beeswax.
Thanks, Sparky!:)

Yeah Carol:o you mean to the basics of embarassing me with my ineptitude:eek:
I'll give a bowl a try next week as I ordered a chuck from PN and it's on its way:D:D.

What a nice bowl, Carole. Love that wood! I've been keepin' my eye out for some Sycamore on the ground around here. Trees everywhere - just not any on the ground.

Thanks for the picture!

Nothing wrong with the basics when it is executed well and that bowl has a lot of good features. Love to see pretty work and that is pretty work!:D

Very Cool Carole!! I like the idea of having a piece that you can have in your lap during a movie or something....I just have plastic bowls.:( Time to turn something useful.;) :)

Nice bowl Carole! I have a little sycamore for flat work and it is very interesting to machine. Grain is almost woven in quality and it seems very tearout resistant.

Very nice line to the bowl and yup, that's Sycamore. I have about as much of that as corn.
