Friend at work wanted a light-colored wood w/ spalting. Well here's what I came up with...
9" across... 4-1/4" tall... 1/2" thickness...

I too like your bottom treatment. I can turn those easy enough but then sand the darn things away every time.

What a great bowl! There is lots of what the locals call Hackberry around the middle TN area but, I don't really think it is truely Hackberry. Hackberry is supposed to be great for turning and the local stuff I have tried is very soft and tearout is hideous. One day I will get better at actually knowing what kind of wood I am reclaiming from the dump, construction site, etc...
