Your killing me---I got my pump but still working on getting the funds for the rest of the parts. Looks great----what are you going to use for a air filter???

One of the few things in life that "it sucks" means it good;) If you know of others keep them to yourself....

Kieth

Your setup looks good, you will need a filter on the pump. I love my vacuum setup for finishing bottoms of bowls, etc. Is that a oneway chuck?

That looks like a filter in the 1st pic. Mounted on the board between the gauge and the pump.

Super Keith! But I don't think that drum will work too good on these little minis you been doin' here lately....;)

Nice, neat job, Keith. Now you can do natural edge stuff.
I have a couple of questions. First, how did you go through the headstock? Secondly, does it matter what size hose you use?

Very nice, Keith. Vacuum chucking opens up many avenues.

Now, I will say that is a very scary looking piece of wood you are demonstrating with! A bark sandwich?? ;)

Kieth I don't want to hijack you thread but I have a question. The fitting on the back of the spindle, is it threaded onto the lathe then use a quick disconnect of some sort? My smallish Crftsmn has a threaded stub sticking out of the back of the headstock is something like that sufficient? Or do I jump right in and get a blue or red machine???

I did want to add that you really need to put your filter on the inlet of the compressor. Get a good one the one that comes with it is a piece of junk. I sell these for the waste-treatment ind.

Nice, neat looking setup by the way.

Jim - Is that threaded stud hollow? as in all the way through the headstock?

Jim Dunn

Yes Andy it is. Has a hole about 3/8" in diameter all the way thru so I can knock out the drive.

Well, then you're all set. You'll just need to find the right rotary adaptor to match the threads and you'll be able to pull vac right thru the headstock.

If the spindle was solid, you'd have to go with Bill Grumbine's setup.

Hey Jim, I used the EZ Adaptor from Packard. It has all that is needed including the bearing and quick disconnect. And yes there is a inlet filter.
