OK....I have a drum machine, but it doesn't play keyboard/piano/guitar or something like that. I'm looking for something that is not only a drum machine, but also something that has other instruments in the device that will change chords to force ME to change chords. This is to help me improve on my bass lines, runs, rifs, and general hot licks on the bass. Does anybody here even know what I'm talking about? If so, if you have any adivce for a device to purchase to help me improve? I'd appreciate it.

Maybe overkill for your application, but have you looked at "Band In A Box"? (http://www.band-in-a-box.com/)

How about some rhythm section CDs for bass? All the changes, drums playing, piano comping.. minus the bass.

Yamaha and others have a bunch of different bands in a box reasonably priced that you can plug your axe and earphones into. Select mode, tempo, key, length......! Feed your amp or board. We be jamin:D !!
Works good. Best musicians I've worked with. On time for a gig, don't smoke on stage, don't get an attitude, or spill beer on th carpet;) .
I've evened sweetened some live performances with my gizmo:o .
I have one 2 generations older than this one. Rock on.

You should be able to buy midi files that can be played with a track turned off...check with Sweetwater Sound (http://www.sweetwater.com/). They may also have a "canned device" that will give you what you want.
