I'm needing to build some drawer boxes and thinking Baltic birch is a good way to go. The real stuff; not the Chinese made junk from most of the big box stores.
Only want a few sheets so the wholesale places will probably be out of the running.
I am in Cumberland, Md. Draw a circle with Morgantown, Pittsburgh, Frederick and Winchester at the 3,6,9 and 12:00 positions and that's my
reasonable driving range.
Any suggestions?

Legal question. If it is not from a small portion of Europe can it be sold as Baltic birch? I assume the cold weather makes the trees slow growing and hence close grained. Like Monterey pine is native to only a few places in California but now it is tree farmed in China and other places.

My guess is that if the Bb looks like our birch ,and the name is not a trademark, you could legally call it Bb. I’m basing this on the fact that
most of the pizzas made in this country are called Italian pizzas.

I'm not sure if they're quite in your circle, but I've had great luck with Baird Brothers for sheet products.

Baltic Birch right now can be really hard to find.

I lucked on to 3 sheets of 3/4" and three sheets of 1/2" about 6 weeks ago.

In NJ Ive been getting it at Dykes in 5x5 (13 Ply), they also have 4x8(not sure of the ply count havent seen it). They deliver so perhaps you could even meet halfway.

There are a few other places in nj but haven't even tried them because the price wasn't outrageous and they are close. Their southernmost location is Aberdeen NJ right in the middle

Try Exotic Lumber in Annapolis. It's worth a trip there in any event-- live wood porn!

You could try the Menards near Morgantown WV. They may not stock it, but usually offer free ship to store. I've bought a few sheets from the local Menards in the past and it's been good quality.

I picked up what I needed at Frederick Lumber. Much better price than what I was quoted other places.
Thanks for all the input folks.

In the future, you might want to see if you're within Fessenden Hall's delivery area.
