Gary,

Please don't try to enter that in the itty bitty contest. I really think it would be to small to qualify :D

Wow.... that is a chunk of tree, but then again, you have a chunk of a lathe to handle it.

The last time you posted something big, I spent a week trying to learn how.
Nope...not this time. I'm just going to go home and not turn something big....no way.

Gary, that's really a horse. Nice work. How big did it end up, I'm guessing around 20."

She ended up about 17 X 6---that is about as big of a piece that will sell for me. I do have some Walnut that is bigger that I need to get turned. I have blanks stacked up everywhere and need to get them turned. But right now I am building 3 park benches---don't tell anyone I wasn't working on the benches. We really try to get our inventory built up this time of year.

Gary, was that sycamore a blank dry? I have turned sycamore and let it get to a point I just knew it was dry and it still warped. What type of finish did you use. The bowl looked great! I really liked the rolled lip and the spalting. Pictures like these help new turners, I am sure they appreciate your efforts.
Thanks

Hey Glenn---She ain't got a finish yet----yah it's going to warp---I soaked it with BLO and mineral spirits on the lathe----hope that helps keep it stable???? --the key word is hope. It has been off the lathe for 12 hours now and is still doing just fine.

Stu------when I was shopping for my lathe it was a real big deal to go with this one. The cost was a bunch more than the next machine down. I figure this was going to last me forever so why not get the big one.
