Picked this up at an antique mall couple weeks ago... pretty bad

Didn't concern myself with realism, I'm not into "period correct" Went for looks and hope I succeeded:

Took off the torn up wood on the 'hood', fixed two cracks with titebond (judiciously), planed the sole, sanded and finished off with Howard Good Stuff. (BLO isn't an option)
Put a mirror edge on the iron, thing cuts like a demon.
Johnson wax on the sole to top it all off and turns out to be a favorite smoother. Glides like ice skates if I keep it waxed.

Whaddaya think?

Looks like you got me beat in getting coffin planes tuned.

Mine needs a bit more work to get those nice fluffy shavings like yours.

From that first photo I was expecting it to be lignum vitae. That's a lot of years of grime!
