Hi everyone. I'm new here and am looking to buy a 12" disk sander. Does anyone have or has used the Jet JDS-120s. That's the one on an open stand with a canister filter attached. With 1HP motor and weighing in at over 100 lbs, it looks like a good one. Any help or advice would be great.
Thanks, Frank

Frank,
Welcome.

I have the benchtop version of that sander and it is quite nice. I spent far too much time researching those things before picking that one. There were a number of reviews in mags and online that helped. Wood mag did a 12" disc sander comparo and picked it way above the others. It had both more power and better table than most others. The miter gauge isn't great, but better than most. And it is a standard sized slot (which is rare). I have mine hooked to a central DC system, so no need or review for the canister.

I have always found Horizontal Vertical EdgeSanders much more useful. A 12" disc only has a 6" work area and unless you are doing small parts I don't find a need for them.
