This is one place I think a regular old (sharp) handsaw is hard to beat. If I can lay the cut out correctly and then follow the pencil lines, done. I have a pretty nice radial arm saw, but I notice the blade seems to bow or cup of otherwise deflect sometimes, usually when I am trying to make something other than a square crosscut.

Fo you have any pictures? What size roughly, stock are you cutting, maybe 2x2 or so?

Link to youtube? Nobody here started out making a museum quality replica of a Duncan Pfyfe highboy as our first projecct. A stool is a handy thing to make, you can sit on it at your workbench for doodling or weeping after you get the legs the right length.
