A friend stopped by to show me his garage sale purchase. We were both curious what the swivel part that is held by a screw detailed in the second photo was for or held. Saw lots of pictures online but no explanation.462809462810

It is a two speed drill and the swivel holds/locks the red drive gear in the hole. Remove the red drive gear and insert it in the other hole and the speed is changed.

I was not aware this was a feature until you pointed it out. A pretty ingenious solution to give two speeds for when the application dictates it. Thanks for the education.
