Can I keep it?
462559
Dunlap No. 3D BB Sold by Sears & Roebuck...made by Millers Falls..
462560
Circled area is where the size was stamped..by Millers Falls..
462561
Same size as a Millers Falls No. 8 ( Stanley No. 3) No defects have been found, no cracks, no pits....might take half a day to rehab..
462562
Actually there is this little defect,,,and I got a $5 discount because of it....dropped the price from $15 down to $10
462563
No frog adjust bolts were used on the Dunlap models....not a biggie....iron looks to be in great shape...same with the wood parts....

Not too bad of a day?:D

Looks well worth $10. Would enjoy seeing pics after you do the rehab.

might take half a day to rehab..

Wish I could pull that off in 1/2 day. You are rather fast I think. nice little plane. Only a little jealous. Great score! Be sure to post when you get around to rehabbing it.

Ok, tell ya what...about 5:30 or so today....I'll clear a spot on my bench...and time just how long it does take...with photos of course....

Stay tuned:D

Other than a final sharpening...plane is rehabbed..at 6:40pm, today...will be back with a few pictures...stay tuned...( had to ,wash up, first....hands were a bit dirty.)

Started here...
462665
Get it all torn down..
462666
Hardest part was the iron/chipbreaker. Iron had a big chip and a few smaller ones...back is now flat...chipbreaker is mated to the iron ( edge still needs honed and stropped..)
462667
Frog wasn't too bad, actually....have seen a lot worse....finally...
462668
Sole does have a wavy pattern to it...small nick at the mouth, toe has seen a lot of use...Seems to be flat enough.
462669
Steel wheel means this is about...1941-45 era....but...the bolts for the handles have brass, waisted ends...
462670
Logo side....with the 3D BB stamp, by Millers Falls...
462671
I eased that chipped edge a bit..less sharp.
462672

All in the Family....Dunlap, Millers Falls No. 8, and a Craftsman 3C

And...that will do...until I can get out the sharpening stuff....rather not have THAT on the bench, until AFTER the current project is done..

OK, now that is insane. And I thought half a day was fast.

As a beginner, I'm looking for a ~#4 size, would fit my hands without being an unwieldy monster. Where did/do you find them?

Always seems to be at least one garage, barn, estate sale around here with someone's old plane...

There is an Antique Mall just down the street from me...one of the vendors has a BUNCH of planes.

West Liberty, OH has a Liberty Fest every Labor Day Weekend....last year, I walked..WALKED past about a full mile of vendors...

Saving up my dimes to go again this year..admission and parking are FREE!

Go figure... went to the area antique mall and the Dunlap came with me 👍👍

Gonna start on it tonight.

My other addicc... oops... hobby is restoring old radios. Tough finding those now but planes? All over... one vendor had 7. I like an easier search subject. Planes work!
