Full 26" length, 8ppi ( stamped with an "8" near the tooth line...

fancy handle, but only 3 bolts....however..flip the saw over..
461750
Well, at least the price was right....except....no bolts to be seen? Not even a trace of a hole?
461751
back is straight, rather than a skew back. Has plenty of set, and is still quite sharp..
461752
But...no bolts , no holes for bolts? saw plate is straight, no bow, no kinks, no missing teeth. Haven't found any etch...yet.

Any ideas about whom made this saw?

Same thing with this keyhole saw....bolt(s) on one side only...not a trace of a hole on the other side?

Same maker?

Just trying to clean both saws up...keyhole had 3 bends in it....no none.....on a whim, I removed the single "bolt".....

Slotted, oval head STEEL screw is what came out....then checked the 3 in the handsaw....same size screws. maybe a #12 or bigger....they all do go through the saw's plate, then just into the wood beyond.

I have never seen a saw like that. For a buck fifty I would have taken a chance on it too.

Just a guess, and the photos aren’t sharp enough to see clearly, but the original screws may have broke when attempting to remove them, then the handle may have been plugged and regular wood screws used to reattach it.

Nope, no plugs.. 1840s screws, too....

Wheeler, Madden, and Clemson, Middletown, NY....

I guess I could sand that face, just to make sure....
