461363 I just purchased kits to build the 4 way pressure clamps shown in the photo. I tend to use a lot of glue on the end grain cutting boards I build, so I was thinking of applying a plastic veneer or some other film to the wood bars to prevent glue squeeze out from gluing the clamp to the cutting board. Would a strip of UHMW be the right choice? Can you easily remove glue from UHMW? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks, bob

Packaging tape is used for my cauls and works well for glue ups.

I use the grocery store plastic bags in every situation like that.

Waxed paper. Cheap and nothing will stick to it. I’ve used it for years.

I tried something new, and I don't know if it'll work.
On half of my clamps, I waxed them.
On the other half I used the wax from a toilet bowl seating ring.
I'll find out!

+1 on the packing tape.
wax ring stuff is kinda sticky, isn’t it. Yuck!

+1 for waxed paper. Good for all sorts of gluing situations.

Plus one for packaging tape. Nothing sticks to it. It's cheap and fairly durable. We have cauls in the shop that have clamped hundreds of tables and the tape still comes perfectly clean every time.

I wax my clamps for easy glue removal with great results. For a 4 way clamp I would put packing tape on it, and maybe a little wax to be sure. I've had good luck with the packing tape, I just don't bother unless there's a real risk of the glue actually bonding the two materials. Benefit is it'll stay with the clamp. Wax paper also works well, but you'll have to secure it somehow.

Aaron, I'll be curious as to your results. I've only seen the wax ring method used as a cheaper way to wax screws over paste wax. I haven't heard of any performance difference.

Yep. I have cauls that have had the same tape on them for 10 years.

Use the red (or whatever colour it is now) TUK (spl) NOTHING sticks to that! And it's very durable...

Thanks for all the tips. Sounds like packing tape is the answer. I like it... simple, cheap, readily available. Cheers, bob

I also use packing tape...same pieces have been on my bow-clamps for. years.

Apply UHMW tape to the clamping faces. Wood glue won't stick to it and it is durable.

+1 for packing tape. I used to use wax paper, but I often wondered whether under pressure, there isn't some transfer of the wax onto to wood surface.

Packing tape works well if you're going to leave it on; it can pull up fibers on wooden clamps if removed and leave a sticky residue
Since the majority of my clamps are iron, I use Gulf(canning) wax on them and my cauls and handscrews also.

Packing tape for cauls. Johnson's Paste Wax for the clamp bars of Bessy Clamps and pipes of pipe clamps.

I've been using both for years. You should also be working on learning how much glue is enough.
