I finally got around to making some shop fixtures that have been on the to-do list for, well, years. I bought myself a Lie-Nielsen sharpening jig ( and a 5 & 1/2 and a bronze #4 and some very cool (expensive) screwdrivers . . .:D) and decided to make the angle setting device based on LN's design.

Now with wicked sharp planes, I decided on Tim Rousseau's "5-in-1" shooting board from FWW in 2018 (I happen to like all of Tim's stuff and his style). After flattening my workbench (first time since 2008 build), the board works as advertised. It's really spot on.

I was probably slow, but it took about a weekends time to build and finish both. Shellac on the angle setter, nothing on the SB.

Nice job Jeff! I’m sure you’ll get a lot of use from these, and your new toys from LN.

Your angle setter is pretty fancy. Mine is just plywood with some oak scraps. Looks like I need to up my game!

Never saw an angle setter before. Pretty neat.

And they work remarkably well. Very repeatable.
