Only markings on body are ,made in Germany 48mm. The iron looks to be marked DORBl 48. It's an unusual iron459226459227459228

Looks like the cap iron is on the wrong side of the cutting iron.

I recently saw a Danish plane with the same groove around the body. The maker was JPBO.

My Ulmas (sp?) look a lot like that.

Yes it looks a lot like Ulmia and ECE but no markings other than 48 made in Germany. Those other brands have the green medallions. I can't find any reference to the iron on the net.

Might be from East Germany? That would explain the lack of references.

If it was made for the European market would it have "made in Germany" in English?

From what I read, JPBO used irons from different makes, EA Berg, German, and some English. Most of those wood planes, Ulimia, ECE, et alia, look similar.
