Hey all,

I can't find much about this maker. Anyone have insight?

Today I picked up this draw knife made by them. It feels great in the hand. I'm also very impressed with the blade on it. Very sharp and seems well made.

Anything you know would be appreciated! I paid $15 for it and have no clue to the value, but I like it so much I won't be selling. Just curious more than anything.

Thanks.

This may be one made for a specific distributor.

You may have found this in a Google search:

DAT says circa 1880 (+/- 15 yrs), made Bits, Draw Knives, Rules and Saws,
Mark Hudson Tool Co.
There may have been more than one Hudson Tool Co. The saws reported appear
to be ca 1880, but a reported rule is probably post 1900. The mark is from
a draw knife. Circa 1910, the Ohio Tool Co, made iron planes for a Hudson
Tool Co, New York, NY

Jim Bode Tools also has one listed that sold.

Glad to help. My thought is Hudson Tool Co. may have been a distributor contracting with Ohio Tool Co. to make private branded items for them. This is a common story in the history of tools. There were makers and marketers. Many makers did both but also sold to independent marketers.
