I've seen photos of flaming box elder but never the real thing, until today.

That looks real nice John. I'm sure you've noticed it is a little stringy when cut, especially with the grain like you are doing.

I've seen logs that had a red maple leaf figure when viewed across the endgrain. So, I turned an endgrain bowl with the maple leaf pattern in the bottom.

I don't know how it is for lumber, but I know other turners would be willing to pay for nice chunks of FBE (flame box elder).
