Hardwood / Slab sources near Manchester, Vermont

My wife and I will be scheduling a "getaway" to Manchester, Vermont for a few days. I'm wondering if there are any good sources in the area for me to check out.

Depends on how far you are willing to go from Manchester. I live about 20 miles south of Manchester Center. Berkshire Products in Sheffield MA is 2 hours drive due south of Manchester, right on the Mass/CT border and allegedly has the country's largest selection of live edge slabs and burl wood. Curtis Lumber in Ballston Spa, NY is fairly close by and has a very nice selection of domestic and exotic hardwoods, but they are kind of expensive and don't sell much rough-sawn stock. My go-to places are both in northern/central Vermont. A. Johnson Lumber in Bristol, VT has an overwhelming selection of domestic hardwoods, including a lot of figured lumber, all rough sawn (planed for a fee) and not particularly expensive. TreeHouse Hardwoods & Millshop in South Burlington has a wide selection of exotics, domestics, live edge slabs, turning blanks, butcher block, cabinet-grade plywood and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff like hardware and adhesives. Both of these places to me are the "bring an empty truck and a full wallet" type, and I'll go home with the opposite.

Thanks, Jon - That's the kind of local information I was looking for. I'll be traveling from New Jersey, so points South of Manchester are more convenient. Unfortunately, I don't want to subject my wife to a two hour drive North to visit A Johnson and TreeHouse. Berkshire Products is doable geographically, but the prices on their website are astronomical (for me). It might be worth stopping by just to gawk, though.

I have not heard of any of the other three. TradeWinds looks - expensive - but who knows? Very intriguing to find that kind of stock here in VT. Kerber also looks interesting. Might have to check them out.
