The auto carrier ship, Golden Ray capsized in St Simon Bay (Brunswick GA) in 2019. In 2020, they finally got everything together to remove the ship, and the 4000 autos aboard. Removing a capsized ship is quite a task, requiring lots of thought and BIG machinery, none of which is on site to begin with. After assembling correct barges and cranes, next problem is cutting ship into manageable sized pieces. Enter the world's largest chain saw. Salvage operations are using a CHAIN to cut the ship into pieces. Takes about 24 hours to completely saw ship into a section. Work goes on 24 hour a day. As soon as a section is cut free, it's loaded onto a barge for transport to recycling facility. We're not talking about your neighborhood salvage yard either. Many you tubes on operations.

I had saw another article about this. It stated the process was moving much slower than anticipated. The engine section has given a great deal of problems which stands to reason. The engine block structure and crankshaft would be massive and tough. Interesting operation though.
