Here's the other Christmas gift I made the the LOML. This one only measures 13" in diameter. The finish is 2 goot coats of Tung Oil and 3 coats of blonde shellac. The wood is Silver Poplar and I like the figure in the platter from a crotch cut from a log section. This silver poplar is yielding some very nice color and figure and is nice to turn as well.

The LOML like the matched set as she calls the bowl a "Lace Bowl" as the color figure in the wood reminds her of a piece of lace material.

Thanks for looking.

Yikes.... even more masterpieces. You've got to stop showing me all this awesome work until I get better prepared.... you hear me? I'm not ready yet!

Seroiusly Dennis, I am impressed with the workmanship as well as the beauty of the wood you selected.

Great job!

Excellent, Mr. Peacock. That nice set should keep you in favor with SWMBO for a little while. Looks smooth as glass and if that silver poplar is like the silver poplar I turned those pieces are nice and light in the hands. :D

Beautiful work Dennis! The wood grain in the plate is just gorgeous.

Now if you could just throw that plate like a Frisbee to Napa......:)

Cheers,

Kent

Really nice Dennis!! I cant seem to get poplar to look good. You seem to do it easily. Any secrets you'd like to share? I was looking at a pile of Poplar trees today and didn't cut any of it. Maybe I should if there's a trick to this.
