Hi,

Potentially stupid question here, but is it possible to laminate two thin veneers to help avoid sanding thru? How will the glue line show up? Total fail?

I'm going to be veneering today and learning my way around this stuff in the hopes of getting some more work. I'm worried about corners. The resources that were mentioned to me for dyed veneer are mainly 1/40" or thinner veneers.

Oops, just saw an option for thick dyed veneers (1/28 to 1/26 ish)

No, if you sand through the first veneer it will leave a witness "circle" where you sanded through. Also, the grain won't match. But as long as you use fairly fine sandpaper you won't sand through.

The only way I am able to use 1/40" thick veneers is to have the veneers go all the way to the edge, and meet veneer to veneer. Ideally I include solid hardwood under the veneer at the corner. Then I sand by hand with a block.
