I am restoring a rust bucket Delta 14" bandsaw, and I need a replacement drive shaft.
The seller told me the saw dates to 1958 but I cannot corroborate that.

Does anyone know if Delta used the same drive shaft over the decades they made the saw? There are some for sale on the usual sites, but I'd like to have some more knowledge of what I'm buying before I pays my money.

thanks, Mark

Mark The lower wheel shaft is the same on most 14'' Delta's. if you place a add over on the Owwm site someone will have one. Thats where I got one. Mike O'Keefe

Every part for these is usually available on ebay.

Thanks Tom, yes I am aware there are shafts for sale on Ebay.
My question is - are the shafts the same dimensions across the decades Delta made this saw? So can I be confident a drive shaft will fit my saw?

Of the two Delta 14's that I've restored, one from the late 1980's and one from the 40's, both bottom shafts took the same bearings, so at least that dimension stayed the same. Obviously this doesn't prove anything about your exact year, but it might be relevant if others come along with similar findings.

Thanks Tyler. I took a chance and bought a shaft on Ebay. It should be here soon and I guess then I'll know!

Can’t believe they still don’t have a website.
