Woodpecker has started announcing new one-time tools. Just got the drill press vacum attachment. The new router jig filled a deep need.

Whenever someone complains of being in a abusive relationship I always want to hear what the other side has to say. Often I find out the complaining party is not being completely truthful about their role in the situation. Even some seem to need the abuse because it gives them something to complain about and a topic of conversation with others. And they can easily find others in similar circumstances, often getting together on various forums and other online meeting places to compare and complain about their abusive relationship. (One with the most tools is usually recognized as the most abused victim and given a title such as “red or green” king) Even being abused seems to have its perks.
The other party in these relationships frequently claims innocence and appears unaware that their behavior is causing pain. When it is pointed out how brazenly they display their beauty and usefulness to anyone they encounter, They tell me that they give every relationship the same treatment they have no favorites. Except perhaps those who unzip their wallets more frequently. It is here that I discovered something interesting, upon delving deeper into how these relationships were viewed from their perspective it became apparent that they were interested in your wallet much more than in relating to you. If they had to seduce you with pictures and videos in suggestive poses it was only to get you to unzip your wallet or purse, not because they cared about your feelings of being abused. Tool porn is seen from a monetary not a relationship perspective.

So yes I had to conclude that this is an abusive relationship. You might love them but they will never marry you; unless your wallet has many thousands of pictures of Benjamin Franklin in it. And as that wise man would have said “ Keep your wallet zipped up!”

Time to rewatch “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”. :^) (It’s streaming on HBOMax, BTW.)

Oh! Come on Man! It's not you that's getting abused. It's your wallet!:rolleyes::D

They are generally nice tools though!

Just unsubscribe from their emails. Ignorance is bliss and a heck of a lot less expensive.

Maybe I am wrong but when I read the advertisement from Woodpeckers today about their new router base I do not get the feeling this is a onetime tool... Im not sure that helps you much but it may buy some time :-)

You made me go look. They are actually making some really interesting tools. The multi-router looks to be a wonderful tool for a shop like mine where everything is a one-off, but as always, I really can't get past the price on their tools. In that case - if I were going to spring for $3000 plus the cost of a dedicated router, I'm pretty sure, I'd just combine that check with one for a couple of other new tools, and get a multi-function European machine with a mortise platform.

All their tools are one time. I've bought a bunch of them, but only once.

The rip fence stop looks like a nice way to replace the blocks of wood I clamp to the tube as stops.

Now THAT right there, is funny!

NOW I understand why they call them One Time Tools. It's a variation of Buy Once, Cry Once!

Do you work for them?

I don't own any Woodpecker tools but I've had a need for a largish precise square so I wandered over to their site. As it's loading I think to myself, if it's over a hundred, I'll pass. Well apparently the mind reading algorithms are in place now because the one I want, the 8" x 12" square, regularly $119.99 is on sale for---------------- wait for it.................

$99.99

That's right. Under a hundred.

True to my word (thoughts?), it's on the way.

Thanks John. I think.

I misread the title. I thought it was going to be about sandpaper. An abrasive relationship. My excuse is I got a email ad from Klingspor yesterday.

I've drunk the Kool-Aid, as I have a shop full of red and green things.

I both look forward to, and dread their e-mails.

I've sampled the green kool aid, but not the red.

I fight the Toy Story relationship though - "to Infinity and beyond..."

The Woodpecker Saw Stop fence indexer is interesting.

I owned a Multi-Router for decades, now I own a Pantorouter. It's a far superior machine with a fixed table and better templates. $1,850 for the Pro package. https://pantorouter.com/shop

Bernie, that was hilarious, pls tell me u are a Shrink in your day job ? ;)

I have a love hate relationship with WP one time tools...
I used to think, how stupid, why not stock the items?
Now I know why... cause many of us are on the fence about their tools... sure, some are nice, but there is always other ways to accomplish the same task. Then we think, well if we dont get it, we wont have another chance, similar to older BCT. So we buy it, and 7 months later when it arrives, we forgot why we ordered it.
OTOH, WP gets a lot more sales due to the "only one chance", and they also are assured how many to make, sort of like Kickstarter for every tool.
I often wonder too, how many more innovative tools can they keep creating... just when I think its over, I see something new and cool, and I buy it. I bought their recent offering, a portable drill press with nice indexing guides, a nice twist on an existing product...
So I continue to get their emails, but really think hard about how bad do I need that tool before buying. Overall their tool quality has been pretty good... only a few lemons. Nice to see an American company design and manufacturer ww tools.

I'll second that, and if you watch Jay Bates review of it, you can get a further decent discount.

I've done three projects with mine, since buying it three weeks ago. So easy to use and bang on accurate.

Bringing the topic back on track, yes, I have many WP tools and would have many more if they were a bit more reasonably priced.

I look at these abusive relationship things with the contrasting view that the total loss or lack of self discipline contributes. In my business I covered Maine and was up there regularly. Back in the 90’s I was buying LN planes before I began woodworking. Funny really, but they were brutal. They come out to ask if they can help and when you say just looking, they leave you alone with tools, benches and wood. They make you call them out to settle up with them on your purchases. How do you say no? The quality manuf are the real Borg. “You will be assimilated.” Just burn down the bank account and enjoy. I got so I wouldn’t drive the coast road through Warren, ME, unless it was after 5pm or I had to make an appointment
