Spray can products

I m curious if the retail spray can finishing products such as polyurethane, lacquer, and shellac have the same properties as the corresponding liquids available in cans, e.g. gallon or quart. Thicker layers are more easily applied with brushes and other applicators but is the final finish equivalent? Thanks

Some do; some don't. The Zinsser rattle can shellac is very similar to SealCoat in that it's wax-free and light in color. I use them interchangeably. For other products, they may or may not have the same consistency and/or formulation as hand-applied versions. Do keep in mind that most rattle cans don't have the best spray nozzles and some of the newest ones with the dome tops can't take alternatives/replacements that are sold aftermarket.
