I’m going to build two nightstands to match this bed. I don’t know what it’s made of; it has a made in India tag. I have matched the color with General Finishes Enduro RTM which I have on hand (is water based). What stock would y’all recommend using for the nightstands that would make the best match? Thanks.

Try Poplar. Or Alder. Poplar stained darker can resermble walnut. Alder has less pronounced grain and can be stained to look like cherry.

I would use walnut and skip the stain.

I agree with poplar, best I know of for making color matches of mystery wood.

If you have matched the color, the material you used for the match imparts some effect to the result. I would use whatever you used for your test piece. Your pics look like some mahogany variant. Your success with other materials will depend on how much figure is going to show through. I have had some success with color matching but, part of this was using a material that matched the figure pattern of the unknown original (some veneer of some sort). You should have good success but, sample boards are the only way to assure it.
