Making these recessed half blind dovetails my marking gauge didn't work out. Is recessed half blind the right term?

Anyway I made this one with a shorter rise so it would bear against the end of the pins. Made the blade from an old utility knife blade. Sharpen first, cut off by grinding a line both sides then snap off.

But it is a little crude so here's the improved version. Steel lockdown bearing and alignment grooves in the bar.

Two inlet dowels to insure three points of contact?

That's clever.

(I've been experimenting with Snap-Off blades for mine)

At one time my heavy handedness tended to break small drill bits. They were saved, my father raised me to be a pack rat. They can be ground to be great blades for marking gauges.
