I have been getting more burn marks when ripping on TS. Is that a sign blade needs resharpening?

- blade needs cleaning
- blade needs sharpening
- blade is not parallel with the fence
- feed rate is too slow

Also the blade is not a dedicated ripping blade. They do make a difference over a combination blade.

Burn marks are also caused by internal stress in the wood pushing the wood against the blade. Are your ripped pieces straight after ripping?

It's a good idea to use a dedicated rip blade, especially when ripping hard woods like maple, oak, etc. Something like 24 teeth max on a 10" blade, with a triple chip grind.

This is my first reaction ^^^^

OP, tell us about your blade.

The way he explains, it sounds like a deteriorating condition, most likely dirty or dull blade, I think.

And some species like cherry are more susceptible to burning.
